Named after the first Christian missionary to move to Udaipur, Dr. James Shepherd; this church was built in 1877. This church is also renowned as the Church of North India, it is also the first church to be built in the city.

Its architecture is inspired by the British style, and also the pillars reflect Roman architecture. It has a capacity of 300 people at once.

The main statue that is worshipped in this church of Our Lady was shipped to India by a devotee in Germany in 1964. It was then moved from Bombay to Ajmer and was kept unwrapped till 1967.

In was then moved to Udaipur as the Tridium Management of Udaipur wished to have this kind of a life-size statue. It was kept in St. Paul’s school campus for a few days and later was shifted in a church that was built exactly opposite the school campus.

It has a capacity of 500 people.

This church was concreted by late Dr. Thomas Mathews in 1987. This church is often referred to as ‘Sir Mathew’s Church’. After the demise of Dr. Thomas Mathews in 2005, Dr. Paul Mathew was named as the pastor of this church.

It has a huge garden and a hall in which around 500 devotees can gather at a time.

The ‘Malayalee Syrian Christian Congregation’ was established when the Mar Thoma Christians moved to Udaipur from Kerela and required a praying space in 1966.

Later in 1994 the Emmanuel Mar Thoma Church was established, the other construction work took place in 1998 to add a guest room.

St. Gregorios Orthodox Church

The architecture of this church resembles the orthodox churches in Syria, it was established in 1987 and was named after St. Geevarghese Mar Gregorios of Parumala.

This church has an occupancy of 200 people at a time.
